Role Overview

We are building a team that will focus on delivering digital transformation in an agile fashion for the scope of Innovation & Sustainability at Solvay. This position sits as a key partner to this team, aiming at supporting the Product Managers and their respective squads while identifying how they connect between themselves and to the bigger Group picture.


The Product Architect reports to the Head of Prepare The Future and Connected Research Journey and will be part of the Management team. The Connected Research Journey domain encompasses currently several product groups (Research Digitization, Data Acquisition) that will evolve over time, while the Prepare The Future has a focus on our Group Sustainability and New Business Models. The product architect for this domain is accountable for proactively and holistically leading or supporting product development that fits within the overall enterprise architecture and meets the Product Group Strategy.


He/She leads on building the right landscape to deliver step by-step an Innovation & Growth digital platform, with a unified data model and where data flows between the different products. He/She contributes to decisions about which technologies to invest in, including making business cases and supporting value creation assessment. He /she assists in developing a vision and roadmap to execute current and future company goals and objectives to provide best technology.

He/she contributes to the rationalization of applications, estimating business criticality and helping determine principles to engage required transformation.


The Product Architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the development of a product or a set of products within these Product Groups.

He/She works closely with DevOps / Development teams and suppliers to ensure that the value planned will be delivered in the most optimal way according to the product strategy and the overall value for money objectives linked to the technology strategy.

The Product Architect is also accountable for the integration execution within the scope of their product/product group. Particularly, he/she will discuss extensively with digital teams within the business to shape the path from proof of concept to direct integration within a product group.

Architectural Leadership:

  • Lead the development and design of a robust architectural framework.
  • Analyze complex IT application landscapes and optimize existing IT architecture.
  • Evaluate the Research OT landscape and contribute to architectural building blocks.
  • Develop roadmaps and business cases for architecture implementation and optimization.

Innovation & Integration:

  • Proactively contribute to decisions regarding technology investments.
  • Assist in developing a vision and roadmap to execute current and future company goals.
  • Play a crucial role in the rationalization of applications and guide transformation principles.
  • Lead the implementation and integration of technical architecture across product groups, supporting continuous optimization.
  • Develop integration processes and interface requirements.

Guidance & Governance:

  • Define guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure alignment with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
  • Deliver architectural design for capabilities within your product group stack(s).
  • Design and oversee governance activities related to product architecture assurance and compliance.

You will bring:

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience, particularly in an innovation-driven, science-focused environment.
  • Agility: Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Safe, PI Planning, Agile delivery, etc.) is essential.
  • Technological Insight: Strong experience and understanding of technologies related to laboratories and research activities.
  • Data Expertise: Experience with building landscapes to harmonize data models from different legacy systems.
  • Sustainability Focus: Knowledge of Sustainability topics (product carbon footprint, extra-financial reporting) is an asset.
